This project required the relocation of over nine kms of water and gas infrastructure, through the town of Dalby, to accommodate the widening and major upgrade of the Warrego Highway.

The largest project, completed by Chris Buckley Plumbing, to date. The project included the installation of PVC, DICL and PE water mains and gas mains, ranging in size from 50mm up to 300mm, as well as a large number of property connections. The majority of mains were installed beneath the Warrego Highway, which averages 15,000 vehicles a day through Dalby. This required a substantial amount of planning and traffic management and the job was completed without an incident. A mammoth amount of road and footpath reinstatement was required and public consultation was carried out by dedicated liaison officers, throughout the project.

A four storey apartment building comprising of eleven self contained 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. Centrally located between St Vincent's Hospital and Toowoomba Grammar School.

Included is an underground basement carpark, including both a sewer and stormwater pump station.

This project includes a water main and sewer main upgrade which Chris Buckley Plumbing, had to liaise extensively with Toowoomba Regional Council, to ensure minimal effect on the construction and the wider community.

Challenges associated with this project, were the tight building footprint and the magnitude of traffic in the area, being located near numerous medical providers, St Vincent's Hospital and Toowoomba Grammar school. Works had to be carefully orchestrated as to not disturb the operations of the hospital or Scott Street medical center and medical providers in the area.

Another challenge was delivering the project on time for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers 2019. Mission accomplished.

This project was voted best Tourism and Leisure facility up to $10 Million at the 2020 Downs and Western Master Builders Awards.

Established in 1897, Knights Commercial Laundry was in 2015, relocated to the other side of the city, to a larger premises to accommodate the company’s continual growth. The new site was an existing industrial shed that was to be transformed into an industry leading, state of the art commercial laundry.

Chris Buckley Plumbing, was contracted to install hydraulic services to the new premises, assist with the decommissioning and disconnection of equipment at the current laundry site. It was a stipulation of the contract that the laundry must remain operational throughout the relocation process.

This was managed through a precise project schedule and night works. Services installed at the new location included a new 100mm water connection, 100mm gas supply to the building and boiler, alterations to the existing fire hose reel and hydrant systems, cast in-situ grated pit system and trade waste drainage including lint traps, compressed air reticulation and connection of water, gas and compressed air to all of the laundry equipment.

In February 2012, Chris Buckley Plumbing, was awarded a contract to replace water mains throughout the Banana Shire Council for the remainder of the financial year with an option to extend the contract for a further twelve months. That option was taken up by council.

A similar contract was also awarded to Chris Buckley Plumbing, in 2013, which was completed in June 2015. Over this period, Chris Buckley Plumbing was required to install kilometers of new water mains to replace the ageing existing infrastructure in the towns of Biloela, Moura, Taroom, Baralaba, Wowan, Goovigen, Thangool and Theodore.

All works to complete the projects were undertaken by Chris Buckley Plumbing, including laying of new mains, connection of new mains to existing mains, connection of services to residences and business, community notification and consultation, pressure testing and chlorination, GPS survey and reinstatement of roadways, driveways and footpaths.

A combination of PVC, PE and DICL pipe was used throughout the project with a range of size from 100mm to 300mm. This project provided our company and staff with an invaluable amount of experience working with water main infrastructure as well as developing an excellent working relationship with the Banana Shire Council.

Due to a number of road crossings and connections to water mains on side roads, a considerable amount of roadway and footpath reinstatement was also undertaken upon completion of construction.

The pump station was built in close proximity to local waterways and was required to have a finished height of 3.5m above ground level to prevent inundation of the wet well and damage to the switchboard, during flood events.

The pump station is 3.2m in diameter and 14m deep. Constant dewatering, was required to eliminate ground water intrusion into the excavation. Temporary diversions of the towns sewerage were required to allow alterations to the existing infrastructure to take place.

The pump station was completed with a galvanised access stairway, safety hand rails and a pivoting gantry and electric winch.

Commenced in August 2017, this project required the replacement of the existing raw water main with a new 400mm PE raw water main, from the intake at the Dawson River, to the water treatment plant in the Central Queensland town of Moura. A total of 5.3km in length, the project also required the construction of two concrete pigging stations and a number of air release and scour valves. The new main crossed the Dawson Highway, to accomplish this the highway was under bored and a 600mm PE enveloper pipe installed to accommodate the 400mm PE main.

Other aspects of these works included construction of an access path along the first 3.0 km of the alignment, which included a large amount of tree clearing and working in close proximity to an operating Waste Transfer Station.

This required CBP, to take appropriate measures to eliminate any risk of environmental damage.

Supply and install a total of 500m of 100mm PVC-M water main and 220m od 150mm PVC-M water main a 315mm PE under bore across Middle Street and a 250mm Valve set installation, to allow connection of future works, this work was completed along the road reserve, under a shoulder closure, this was an upgrade to the failing existing AC water main along these streets.

The challenges of this job, included the proximity to major roadworks that had already commenced along Inverai Road. With a short time frame, due to the work needing to be completed so roadworks could continue, coordination and location of many existing services and still providing access around the site to members of the public and to allow businesses to trade.

Another challenge, we encountered was working in a school zone and the works were to cross two streets, which were school bus routes and the work had to be done in a manner that allowed these bus routes to be uninterrupted.

Upgrade of existing potable water main and trunk main, supply to a drinking water tower.

The project called for the installation of 250 DICL pipework along the verge of Middle street with numerous road crossings and interconnections into existing infrastructure.

Challenges involved with this project included, working within school zones and minimising the affect on both the school and the local bus routes, the alignment of the new pipeline was inside the protection zone of established trees. These sections of pipe were installed by directional drilling in order to prevent disturbance to the root systems and affecting the health of the tree. Multiple cut ins were required to be carried out simultaneously by Chris Buckley Plumbing, having the capability to resource this without affecting the productivity of our other projects.

This project included the construction of 5 concrete pits, approximately 5000mm long x 3000mm wide x 2000mm deep, along the existing 510OD MSCL water main, between the Proserpine River and Bowen.

An isolation valve and removable pipe spool, was installed in each pit, this was to allow the loading and discharge of 'cleaning pigs'. Following the completion of construction of all pits, Chris Buckley Plumbing, completed the pipeline pigging operations, in an effort to remove a severe build up of Manganese that was discolouring the water and affecting all downstream residents, including the entire town of Bowen.

Pigging operations, successfully reduced the amount of Manganese present within the pipeline. Given the proximity of the project to the ocean and notably the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, environmental protection measures were our priority throughout construction.
